Helping independent musicians survive, grow, and thrive
Independent music is everywhere.
Sustainable music careers are not.
Independent musicians create the music we love, fill the venues we go to, and shape our cultural identity. Yet fewer than 2% of artists earn more than $1,000 a year from streaming. Touring costs are rising. Traditional career pathways have disappeared.
Talent isn’t the problem.
The system is.
The Musician Growth Lab exists to change that.
What We Do
Loosely modeled after startup incubators, the Musician Growth Lab is a national, cohort-based program that gives independent musicians the practical knowledge, access, and community they need to build sustainable careers.
What the Musician Growth Lab Provides:
Each year, the Musician Growth Lab selects 10 independent musicians or bands from New England to participate in a one-year program that includes:
Monthly Growth Sessions
Expert & Mentor Access
Cohort Community
Grants
Publicity & Storytelling
Where We Are Now
We’re building the foundation.
And we’d love your support.
The Musician Growth Lab is currently in formation. We’re building our Board of Directors, Advisory Council of musicians, and Growth Session network. We’re also preparing our 501(c)(3) nonprofit status and developing the first-year roadmap of Growth Sessions.
If you’re interested in getting involved as a Board member, part of the Advisory Council, advisor, instructor, participant, or supporter, we’d love to connect.
